Mary Shelley has been crocheting, knitting and embroidering since she was a young child in Ireland. According to Mary, "I learned to do these things sitting around the fireplace with my Mother."

After coming to the United States in 1971, then marrying and having children, she continued with crocheting and other crafts. In 2007, she came across miniature crochet bears on eBay and fell in love with them.

"I joined the wonderful group ThreadArtistGuild.org so I could learn more about these little critters," she says. "I am now a proud member and artist of ThreadArtistGuild. I love to make my little critters from the finest materials; almost all are one-of-a-kind - I visualize and make them up as I go along."
